    Keyword research is the main building block of any SEO campaign.

    Why you ask? Because keyword research tells you what people are really searching for in your niche.

    Most likely you understand the vocabulary used within your industry, this often differs from what your consumers are actually searching for.

    Google Keyword Planner is always the go-to keyword research tool, although you will need an active Google Ads campaign to get the most out of the tool.

    My favorite free alternative is Niel Patel's Ubersuggest, this is a free google autocomplete scraper.

  2. Study Your Competition

    This is where you can start to figure out what works for others in your industry and what your consumers are looking for in terms of user experience, website layout, and content.

    Conduct some searches for the most important products and services you offer, take note of The top websites in the searches and what they have in common and what is different to yours.

    You can put them in the Ubersuggest tool to get a breakdown of the website and the ranking factors.

  3. Plan Your Website

    Now that you are equipped with an understanding of how your consumers will be searching for your products and services, as well as some ideas of what works from your competitors, it is time to plan out your website.

    Build a model of your site listing all your pages and the corresponding keywords, each page should have keywords tied to it in order to optimize your site.

    Utilize long-tail keywords in order to drive traffic from users looking for specific search terms such as "how to do seo yourself for free".

  4. Build & Optimize Your Site

    Now its time to build your pages, content, and optimize it for the web. This requires website design, development, and on-page seo work.
